Drug intelligence / Profile preview
D-chiro-inositol + alpha-lactalbumin is a combination therapy primarily used for the management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and associated metabolic disturbances. D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is an inositol isomer that acts as a second messenger in the insulin signaling pathway, facilitating glucose uptake and reducing hyperandrogenism by modulating aromatase activity. However, DCI typically exhibits poor intestinal absorption, which can limit its therapeutic efficacy. Alpha-lactalbumin, a whey protein, is included in the formulation to enhance the bioavailability and intestinal transport of DCI by modulating tight junctions and improving solubility. This combination aims to restore hormonal balance, improve insulin sensitivity, and support ovulatory function in women with PCOS, particularly those who are considered inositol-resistant due to absorption issues.
