Galapan is a veterinary pharmaceutical product containing **d-cloprostenol**, a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2α. It is a potent luteolytic agent used primarily in livestock management, including cattle, horses, and swine. By acting as an agonist at the prostaglandin F2 receptor, d-cloprostenol induces the regression of the corpus luteum (luteolysis), which leads to a rapid decline in progesterone levels. This physiological response is utilized to synchronize estrus cycles, treat reproductive disorders such as luteal cysts or chronic endometritis (pyometra), and induce parturition or therapeutic abortion. In the context of UBM (United Bio-Med) in Egypt, it is marketed as a commercial therapeutic for ruminants and other veterinary species.
