Drug intelligence / Profile preview
D1000083 is an experimental eroding gel matrix placebo tablet developed by AstraZeneca for use in clinical pharmacology research. It was specifically designed to evaluate gastrointestinal transit and erosion rates using Magnetic Marker Monitoring (MMM) technology. In a Phase 1 study (NCT00414154), it was one of four different gel matrix formulations (alongside D1000078, D1000082, and D1000085) tested in healthy volunteers under fasting and fed conditions to characterize how different erosion rates affect movement through the digestive tract. As a placebo formulation, it does not contain an active pharmaceutical ingredient but serves as a model for developing and optimizing extended-release oral dosage forms.
