D121 is a small molecule alkylphosphocholine (APC) being developed by Oblita Therapeutics as a next-generation treatment for various parasitic and fungal diseases. As a member of the alkylphosphocholine family, it exhibits potent antiproliferative activity against *Leishmania* species (causing visceral, cutaneous, and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis), *Trypanosoma cruzi* (the causative agent of Chagas disease), and various fungi responsible for invasive fungal infections. The drug's mechanism of action involves the disruption of cell membrane integrity and interference with lipid-dependent signaling pathways, specifically targeting CTP:phosphocholine cytidylyltransferase, which leads to apoptosis in target pathogens. D121 is designed for oral administration and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for human indications, while also being investigated for veterinary use in canine leishmaniasis and for the treatment of cryptosporidiosis.
