Drug intelligence / Profile preview
D3 peptide (also known as OPL1) is a synthetic 38-mer peptide originally identified as a novel serum biomarker from the resistant strain of the Cohen diabetic rat model. Developed by the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), D3 peptide exhibits intrinsic, potent kinase inhibitory properties in vitro. In preclinical models of type 1 and type 2 diabetes (such as NOD and db/db mice), administration of D3 peptide has been shown to significantly reduce blood glucose and fructosamine levels, limit inflammatory infiltration in the pancreas, and markedly increase residual pancreatic beta-cell mass by reducing beta-cell death or inducing beta-cell proliferation. It may also improve glycemic control by enhancing systemic glucose uptake or insulin sensitivity.
