D501 refers to a specific batch of adefovir dipivoxil tablets. Adefovir dipivoxil is an antiviral nucleotide analogue prodrug that is orally absorbed and subsequently converted to its active form, adefovir. This active form inhibits viral DNA polymerase. The D501 batch was evaluated in a study for its in vitro dissolution rate and in vivo bioavailability in dogs, demonstrating a faster dissolution rate compared to other tested batches.
