Overview

DA-2811-R, also known as Dapagliflozin formate (DA-2811), is an ester prodrug of dapagliflozin developed by Dong-A ST Co., Ltd.. It was designed to enhance the stability and pharmaceutical manufacturing process of dapagliflozin. Upon absorption, DA-2811-R rapidly converts into its active form, dapagliflozin, which is a small molecule sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor primarily indicated for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Dapagliflozin itself is also used to reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and worsening kidney disease in certain adult populations.
