DA-2902 is an orally administered small molecule candidate developed by **Dong-A ST** as a generic or an incrementally modified version of **baloxavir marboxil** (brand name **Xofluza**). It is an antiviral agent indicated for the treatment of acute, uncomplicated influenza A and B infections. Baloxavir marboxil acts as a prodrug that is converted in vivo to its active metabolite, baloxavir. The drug's mechanism of action involves the selective inhibition of the **cap-dependent endonuclease** (CEN) located within the **polymerase acidic (PA)** subunit of the influenza virus RNA-directed RNA polymerase complex. This inhibition prevents the 'cap-snatching' process required for viral mRNA synthesis, thereby halting viral replication. Dong-A ST is conducting bioequivalence studies to demonstrate the pharmacokinetic and safety equivalence of DA-2902 to the reference product (Xofluza) under both fasting and fed conditions.
