Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DA-5221 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Dong-A ST for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts as a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, a class of drugs that lowers blood glucose levels by preventing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and promoting its excretion in urine. Clinical trials are ongoing to evaluate its efficacy and safety, including as part of combination therapy with other antidiabetic agents such as DPP-4 inhibitors[1][5][7]. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical development.
