da-8031

DA-8031 is a novel, orally administered small molecule developed as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) for the treatment of premature ejaculation. It acts by inhibiting the serotonin transporter (SERT), thereby increasing synaptic serotonin levels and delaying ejaculation latency time. Preclinical studies demonstrated high selectivity for SERT over other monoamine transporters and low affinity for other receptors, suggesting a favorable side effect profile. Clinical trials have shown that DA-8031 is generally well tolerated in healthy male subjects, with dose-proportional pharmacokinetics at therapeutic doses and mild adverse events reported. The drug was developed by Dong-A ST (Dong-A Pharmaceutical) but its clinical development for premature ejaculation was discontinued after phase II trials in South Korea[2][6][7][8].
