DA-9805 is a botanical drug candidate developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It is an ethanolic extract mixture derived from three traditional medicinal plants—Moutan cortex (root bark of Paeonia suffruticosa), Angelica dahurica root, and Bupleurum falcatum root—in equal proportions. The formulation has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in preclinical models by alleviating mitochondrial damage, oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and neuroinflammation. Mechanistically, DA-9805 acts as an antioxidant and modulates mitochondrial proteins; it also normalizes neurotransmitter imbalances in the striatum by restoring dopamine transmission and reducing elevated acetylcholine levels through modulation of choline acetyltransferase expression. These actions contribute to improved motor function and protection against dopaminergic neuronal loss in experimental models of Parkinson’s disease[1][2][3][4][6].
