Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Da Huang total anthraquinone capsule is a botanical pharmaceutical product developed by Jiangxi Changnuo Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is composed of the total anthraquinone fraction extracted from the Chinese medicinal herb Da Huang (Rhubarb, *Rheum palmatum* L. or *Rheum officinale* Baill.), which includes active compounds such as emodin, rhein, chrysophanol, physcion, and aloe-emodin. The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of jaundice in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to promote bile secretion and excretion (choleretic effect), reduce serum bilirubin levels, and exert anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activities. It has been evaluated in Phase IV clinical trials in China to further establish its safety and efficacy in clinical practice.
