Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A fixed triple combination therapy comprised of DA5221-T1 (an SGLT-2 inhibitor), DA5221-B1, and DA5221-B2 (a DPP-4 inhibitor) developed for improving glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately managed with a dual combination of DA5221-B1 and DA5221-B2. DA5221-T1 acts by inhibiting the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 in the kidney, promoting urinary glucose excretion, while DA5221-B2 enhances incretin activity by inhibiting dipeptidyl peptidase-4, leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner. The regimen is being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials by Dong-A ST for efficacy and safety when added to ongoing DA5221-B1 and DA5221-B2 therapy[1][2][3][6].
