Overview
DAB-8 is a small molecule vitamin D analog developed by Deltanoid Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It functions as an agonist of the Vitamin D receptor (VDR). The compound was specifically investigated for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia, a condition characterized by elevated phosphate levels in the blood, commonly seen in patients with chronic kidney disease. DAB-8 was part of a portfolio of vitamin D analogs derived from research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Development of the drug appears to have ceased following the dissolution of Deltanoid Pharmaceuticals in 2018.
