Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dabur Red is a commercially available Ayurvedic herbal toothpaste (dentifrice) formulated with a blend of traditional Indian medicinal ingredients. Its composition includes Red Ochre (Garik powder) for mechanical cleaning and stain removal, along with several phytotherapeutic components: Long Pepper (Piper longum), Black Pepper (Piper nigrum), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Winged Prickly Ash (Zanthoxylum armatum), Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora), Clove Oil (Syzygium aromaticum), and Peppermint (Mentha piperita). The product is primarily used for oral hygiene to reduce dental plaque, treat gingivitis, and remove extrinsic dental stains (such as black stains). It exerts broad antimicrobial activity against common oral pathogens, including cariogenic bacteria like *Streptococcus mutans* and chromogenic bacteria associated with dental staining, through the synergistic effects of its active phytochemicals like eugenol, piperine, and gingerols.
