Overview
DAC-0060 is a synthetic, small-molecule pan-histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor developed for topical administration. It was primarily investigated by the Istituto Europeo di Oncologia (IEO) for the treatment of superficial and nodular basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of the skin. The drug's mechanism involves the epigenetic regulation of gene expression by inhibiting the HDAC enzyme family. In clinical development, it was evaluated in a Phase IIb trial in combination with the retinoid tazarotene (0.1% gel). Development appears to have been discontinued following the completion of this single-country study in Italy.
