Drug intelligence / Profile preview
dachai hu tang + guizhi fuling pill is a combination of two classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulas being evaluated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Developed and studied by the Dazhu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this combination therapy targets the TCM patterns of phlegm-heat and blood stasis, which are common in COPD patients. Dachai Hu Tang (Major Bupleurum Decoction) is traditionally used to harmonize the Shao Yang and clear heat, while Guizhi Fuling Pill (Cinnamon Twig and Poria Pill) is used to promote blood circulation and resolve stasis. Clinical research indicates that the combination can significantly improve lung function (FEV1, FVC) and reduce systemic inflammation by lowering levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-8, thereby alleviating clinical symptoms and improving the quality of life for patients with stable COPD.
