Overview

Daclatasvir + asunaprevir is a fixed-dose combination of two direct-acting antiviral agents used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, particularly genotype 1b. Daclatasvir is an NS5A replication complex inhibitor that disrupts the function of the Hepatitis C virus nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A), which is essential for HCV RNA replication and virion assembly. Asunaprevir is an NS3 protease inhibitor that blocks viral polyprotein processing required for viral replication. This all-oral regimen was developed to provide an interferon-free and ribavirin-free option for HCV patients, including those with compensated cirrhosis. The combination has demonstrated high sustained virological response rates in clinical trials and was first globally approved in Japan[4][5][8].
