Overview

dAd5GNE is an anti-cocaine vaccine that works by preventing cocaine from reaching the brain. It consists of a cocaine analog (GNE) covalently linked to the capsid proteins of a disrupted serotype 5 adenovirus. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies that bind to cocaine molecules in the bloodstream, preventing them from crossing the blood-brain barrier and thus eliminating cocaine's effects on the brain. It was developed at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian as a potential treatment for cocaine addiction.
