Overview

Dasatinib (marketed by Dar Al Dawa as Dadas) is an oral small-molecule multi-kinase inhibitor. It primarily targets the BCR-ABL fusion protein and SRC family kinases, but also inhibits c-KIT, EPHA2, and PDGFRβ. It is approved for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in the chronic phase and Ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), particularly in patients who are resistant or intolerant to prior therapy such as imatinib. By binding to both the active and inactive conformations of the BCR-ABL kinase, it effectively blocks downstream proliferative signaling, leading to apoptosis in malignant cells. Originally developed by Bristol Myers Squibb and Otsuka Pharmaceutical, it is distributed as a generic or branded generic by Dar Al Dawa in specific markets.
