Overview

Daesiho-tang (DSHT) is a traditional Korean herbal medicine (Hanbang) formulation composed of multiple botanical extracts, including *Bupleurum falcatum*, *Scutellaria baicalensis*, and *Rheum palmatum*. It is traditionally used in East Asian medicine to treat acute febrile illnesses, habitual constipation, and chronic gastritis. In modern clinical research, particularly by Gachon University Gil Oriental Medical Hospital, it is being evaluated for its efficacy in treating obesity and metabolic syndrome. Preclinical evidence suggests that DSHT exerts anti-obesity effects by reducing body weight, liver and adipose tissue mass, and improving lipid profiles (total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL) and glucose tolerance. It is currently being studied in Phase 4 clinical trials in South Korea for these metabolic indications.
