Dahuang Tongbian Capsules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) product manufactured by Sichuan Defeit Pharmaceutical, primarily used as a stimulant laxative for the treatment of constipation. The formulation is based on *Dahuang* (Rhubarb), which contains active anthraquinone glycosides such as emodin, rhein, and chrysophanol. These compounds are metabolized by intestinal flora into active anthrones that stimulate the colonic mucosa, increasing peristalsis and altering electrolyte transport to promote water secretion into the intestinal lumen. This dual action facilitates bowel movement and relieves symptoms of heat-accumulation constipation, a common diagnosis in TCM. The product is currently marketed in China as an approved pharmaceutical for oral administration.
