Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dahuangling Pi Formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal decoction primarily composed of *Rheum palmatum* (Dahuang) and *Epimedium* (Lingpi/Xianlingpi). Developed by the Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the formula is designed to prevent the progression of acute kidney injury (AKI) to chronic kidney disease (CKD). It operates on the TCM principle of "tonifying the kidney and removing turbidity." The active components, such as rhein from Rhubarb and icariin from Epimedium, are believed to exert renoprotective effects by promoting the excretion of nitrogenous waste, inhibiting renal fibrosis, and modulating inflammatory and oxidative stress pathways.
