Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dailycal Ortho is a combination nutritional supplement developed and marketed by Systopic Laboratories. It is formulated to support bone health and treat conditions associated with calcium deficiency, such as osteoporosis, osteopenia, osteomalacia, and rickets. The supplement contains three active ingredients: calcitriol, calcium carbonate, and zinc sulfate. Calcitriol, the active form of Vitamin D3, binds to the Vitamin D receptor (VDR) to enhance intestinal calcium absorption. Calcium carbonate provides elemental calcium, which is essential for bone mineralization and acts as an agonist at the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR). Zinc sulfate provides elemental zinc, which acts on the G-protein coupled receptor 39 (GPR39) to promote osteoblast differentiation, collagen synthesis, and bone tissue repair. Together, these components work synergistically to maintain bone density and skeletal integrity.
