Dalteparin sodium + aspirin is a combination therapy used primarily to prevent blood vessel complications in patients with unstable angina or certain types of heart attack. Dalteparin sodium is a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) anticoagulant that works by enhancing the inhibition of coagulation Factor Xa and, to a lesser extent, thrombin via potentiation of antithrombin III. Aspirin acts as an antiplatelet agent by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), thereby reducing thromboxane A2 production and platelet aggregation. The combination reduces the risk of acute cardiac ischemic events and prevents serious or life-threatening complications from angina and myocardial infarction. Dalteparin is also indicated for prophylaxis against deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in surgical patients or those with restricted mobility, as well as extended treatment for venous thromboembolism in cancer patients[1][2][3][5][6].
