Overview

A combination therapy consisting of danazol and recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) used for treating refractory immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA). Danazol is a synthetic steroid that alters erythrocyte membranes to resist osmotic lysis and protects platelets against complement-mediated lysis. Recombinant human thrombopoietin activates the thrombopoietin receptor (c-MPL) to promote megakaryocyte development and platelet production. The combination may provide synergistic effects in patients who are refractory to conventional therapies.
