Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dangfei Liganning (also known as Dangfei Liganning Capsule) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine composed of extracts from *Silybum marianum* (milk thistle) and *Swertia pseudochinensis* (Dangyao). It is primarily developed and manufactured by Sichuan Meidakang Pharmaceutical. Dangfei Liganning is indicated for clearing damp-heat, benefiting the liver, and relieving jaundice. It is widely used in China for the treatment of acute icteric hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) / metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Mechanistically, it has been shown to protect hepatocyte membranes, reduce transaminase levels (ALT/AST), and alleviate hepatic lipid accumulation, potentially by blocking the LXRα-SREBP-1-FAS signaling pathway and regulating AMPK/mTOR-mediated lipophagy.
