Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Danggui Shaoyao Powder (also known as Danggui Shaoyao San) is a traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) formula composed of six herbal ingredients: *Angelica sinensis* (Danggui), *Paeonia lactiflora* (Shaoyao), *Alisma orientale* (Zexie), *Poria cocos* (Fuling), *Atractylodes macrocephala* (Baizhu), and *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (Chuanxiong). Historically used for gynecological conditions involving blood deficiency and dampness, it is currently being investigated for its potential in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The formula is hypothesized to improve nerve conduction velocity and alleviate symptoms such as numbness and pain by addressing "Qi deficiency and blood stasis," a TCM diagnostic pattern. Its pharmacological actions are thought to involve anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and microcirculation-enhancing effects, providing neuroprotection in the context of diabetic complications.
