Danhong Injection (DHI) is an injectable traditional Chinese medicine product widely used in China for treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It is a combination drug produced from the extracts of two herbs: *Radix et Rhizoma Salviae Miltiorrhizae* (Danshen, or Salvia miltiorrhiza) and *Flos Carthami* (Honghua, or Carthamus tinctorius). [1, 14] According to traditional Chinese medicine principles, it functions to promote blood circulation and resolve blood stasis. [3, 11] Modern pharmacological research has shown that DHI possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-fibrinolytic properties. Its mechanism involves improving microcirculation, dilating blood vessels, reducing blood viscosity, inhibiting platelet aggregation, and protecting vascular endothelial cells from injury. [1, 2, 3] Key active components include hydroxysafflor yellow A, salvianolic acid B, and danshensu, which are thought to mediate the drug's anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic effects, respectively, through pathways like the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.
