Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Danlou Pian Jiawei is a modified version of the Chinese Patent Medicine (CPM) Danlou Pian, primarily used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, and atherosclerosis. The base formulation, Danlou Pian, is a standardized herbal product approved by the NMPA (China) consisting of ten ingredients: Trichosanthes kirilowii, Allium macrostemon, Pueraria lobata, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Paeonia lactiflora, Alisma plantago-aquatica, Astragalus membranaceus, Curcuma aromatica, and Crataegus pinnatifida. The designation "Jiawei" indicates a clinical modification where additional medicinal herbs—commonly Panax notoginseng (Sanqi) or Hirudo (leech)—are added to enhance the formula's ability to resolve phlegm, remove blood stasis, and promote the flow of Qi. Pharmacologically, the formula is researched for its ability to inhibit inflammatory signaling pathways, stabilize atherosclerotic plaques, and improve myocardial ischemia by modulating lipid metabolism and protecting vascular endothelial function.
