Overview
Danqi Qinghua Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. The name is derived from its primary components, *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen) and *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), combined with herbs intended to "clear heat and transform dampness" (Qinghua). It is primarily investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients who are overweight or obese. The formulation is designed to address the TCM patterns of Qi deficiency and internal heat-dampness, which are clinically associated with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. It is currently being evaluated in interventional clinical trials to assess its efficacy in improving glycemic control and reducing body mass index.
