Overview
Danqi-Tongluo decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily used for the treatment of cervical spondylosis. The formula's name is derived from its two primary constituent herbs: *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen) and *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi). In TCM theory, these ingredients are utilized to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, and unblock the collaterals (Tongluo), which are essential for addressing the underlying pathology of cervical spondylosis, particularly the vertebral artery type. The decoction is typically administered orally and is often evaluated in clinical settings in combination with other TCM modalities, such as electroacupuncture, to alleviate symptoms like neck pain, dizziness, and functional impairment. It is currently being studied in clinical trials sponsored by institutions such as Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
