Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Danshao Gankang Granules is a modern Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation developed by Shanghai Huazhi Natural Medicine Technology Development Co., Ltd. for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The formulation is primarily composed of extracts from *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen) and *Paeonia lactiflora* (Baishao), which are traditionally used in Chinese medicine to address 'blood stasis' and 'damp-heat' syndromes. Mechanistically, the drug is designed to exert anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and lipid-regulating effects. It aims to improve liver function and reduce hepatic fat accumulation by modulating pathways involved in oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory cytokine production. The candidate has undergone Phase 2 clinical trials in China to evaluate its efficacy in improving histological and imaging markers of liver health in patients with NASH.
