Overview
Danshu capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal compound, primarily used in China for the treatment of biliary disorders such as chronic cholecystitis and gallstones. It is formulated as a Chinese herbal compound (CHC) and is currently being evaluated by the First People's Hospital of Hangzhou in a Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT04484870) to prevent the recurrence of choledocholithiasis (bile duct stones) following endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The drug acts as a cholagogue, promoting the secretion and excretion of bile, and possesses anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. In clinical studies, it has demonstrated efficacy comparable to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) in improving liver function and reducing stone recurrence rates.
