Overview
Dantonic (T89) is a botanical drug product developed by Tasly Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for the prevention and treatment of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). It is a modernized, industrialized version of a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulated as oral capsules. The active substance consists of water extracts from two herbs: Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) and Sanqi (Radix Notoginseng), along with Borneol (Bingpian) to promote absorption. Dantonic's mechanism of action involves improving blood circulation, enhancing oxygen delivery and saturation in the blood, and protecting organs from hypoxia-related damage. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in ameliorating AMS symptoms such as headache, nausea, and dizziness following rapid ascent to high altitudes.
