Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Danxing Zhichan Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Formulated as granules, it is designed to address the TCM syndrome of phlegm-heat and wind-stirring. The formula typically consists of several botanical ingredients, including Arisaema cum Bile (Dan Nan Xing), Gastrodia elata (Tian Ma), and Uncaria rhynchophylla (Gou Teng). Research indicates that Danxing Zhichan Fang may exert neuroprotective effects on dopaminergic neurons by modulating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby enhancing autophagy and facilitating the clearance of alpha-synuclein aggregates. It is frequently evaluated in clinical settings in China as an adjunctive therapy to conventional antiparkinsonian medications like levodopa to improve motor symptoms and reduce complications.
