Danxiong Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) for the prevention and treatment of radiation-induced skin injury (radiation dermatitis). The preparation is a combination of *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen) and *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (Chuanxiong), herbs traditionally used to promote blood circulation and resolve blood stasis. Pharmacologically, Danxiong Granule works by improving local microcirculation in irradiated tissues, reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic cytokines such as TGF-beta1, TNF-alpha, and IL-6, and providing antioxidant protection against radiation-induced reactive oxygen species. It is primarily used as an in-hospital preparation for patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer and other malignancies to mitigate skin toxicity and improve quality of life.
