Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Danzhi Xiaoyao Pills (also known as Danzhi Xiaoyao Wan or Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula used to treat liver qi stagnation accompanied by internal heat. It is a modification of the Xiaoyao San formula, enriched with *Paeonia suffruticosa* (Dan Pi) and *Gardenia jasminoides* (Zhi Zi) to clear heat and cool the blood. The formula is traditionally used to soothe the liver, clear heat, and resolve liver depression. Clinically, it is applied to treat a variety of conditions including emotional disorders (anxiety, depression), gynecological issues (premenstrual syndrome, irregular menstruation), and dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, particularly when these present with the TCM liver-depression syndrome pattern. The formula contains multiple active botanical ingredients including *Bupleurum chinense*, *Angelica sinensis*, and *Paeonia lactiflora*, which are thought to work synergistically to modulate the neuroendocrine-immune system.
