DAPASUG-GM-2 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) oral antidiabetic medication developed by Intra Life for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines three active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action: dapagliflozin, glimepiride, and metformin. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces renal glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion. Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells by blocking ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels. Metformin is a biguanide that decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity through AMPK-related pathways.
