Overview

**Dapagliflozin + insulin** is a combination therapy utilizing dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and insulin, a peptide hormone essential for glucose regulation. Dapagliflozin reduces blood glucose by inhibiting renal glucose reabsorption, promoting urinary glucose excretion through an insulin-independent mechanism. Insulin facilitates cellular glucose uptake and suppresses endogenous glucose production. Used together, especially in type 2 diabetes (as adjunct to diet and exercise), this combination can achieve greater glycemic control when oral agents or insulin alone are insufficient. In type 1 diabetes, this combination has been studied for improved glycemic and metabolic outcomes, but the primary approval and clinical use are for type 2 diabetes inadequately managed with insulin and/or other oral agents[2][6]. Dapagliflozin is developed by AstraZeneca, and insulin is produced by a number of manufacturers.
