Overview
Dapatech is a branded generic formulation of dapagliflozin, an oral antidiabetic medication developed and marketed by Cytech Pharma in India. As a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, it works by blocking the SGLT2 protein in the proximal renal tubules of the kidney. This action prevents the reabsorption of filtered glucose back into the bloodstream, promoting its excretion through urine. Dapatech is primarily indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. Beyond its glucose-lowering effects, it is also recognized for its role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications, such as heart failure, and slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease, which are established class indications for SGLT2 inhibitors.
