Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Daphne Continu** is a low-dose combined oral contraceptive containing **cyproterone acetate (2 mg)** and **ethinylestradiol**. It functions as an anti-androgen and estrogen combination, primarily used for contraception, particularly in women with androgen-dependent conditions such as severe acne, hirsutism, alopecia, and seborrhea. The cyproterone acetate component acts as a potent androgen receptor antagonist, blocking testosterone and dihydrotestosterone effects, while also providing progestational activity; ethinylestradiol enhances contraceptive efficacy. It is indicated when other treatments fail, with recommendations to use the lowest effective dose due to risks like meningioma at higher cumulative exposures. Contraindicated in meningioma history, pregnancy, and certain cardiovascular or liver conditions.[5][6]
