Daratumumab + dexamethasone is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. Daratumumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets CD38, a protein highly expressed on the surface of myeloma cells. By binding to CD38, daratumumab induces cell death through several immune-mediated mechanisms including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, complement-dependent cytotoxicity, and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties; it helps reduce inflammation and manage side effects associated with cancer therapies. This combination is often used in patients who have received at least one prior therapy for multiple myeloma or are not eligible for stem cell transplant[1][4][5][8].
