Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DarbeRel is a recombinant glycoprotein biologic developed and marketed by Reliance Life Sciences. It is a biosimilar of darbepoetin alfa, an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA). The drug functions as an erythropoietin (EPO) analog that binds to and activates the erythropoietin receptor on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, thereby stimulating the production of red blood cells. DarbeRel is indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in both adult and pediatric patients, including those on dialysis and those not on dialysis. It is also used to treat chemotherapy-induced anemia in adult patients with non-myeloid malignancies. It is administered via intravenous or subcutaneous injection and is available as pre-filled syringes.
