Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DARE-BV1 is a thermosetting bioadhesive hydrogel formulation containing 2% clindamycin phosphate, designed for single-dose intravaginal administration. It is indicated for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis in females aged 12 years and older. The drug acts as an antibacterial agent by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. Developed by Daré Bioscience, DARE-BV1 demonstrated superior clinical cure rates compared to placebo and existing FDA-approved products in phase 3 trials, with cure rates ranging from approximately 70% to over 80%. Its unique hydrogel formulation aims to improve antibiotic delivery and patient convenience[1][2][3][5].
