Overview

Dasatinib + blinatumomab is a chemotherapy-free combination regimen investigated by the Gruppo Italiano Malattie EMatologiche dell'Adulto (GIMEMA) for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The regimen consists of dasatinib, a second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets the BCR-ABL1 protein, and blinatumomab, a bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) that targets CD19 on B cells and CD3 on T cells. In the GIMEMA LAL2116 (D-ALBA) trial, dasatinib is administered as induction therapy followed by blinatumomab consolidation. This approach aims to achieve high rates of molecular response and long-term survival while avoiding the toxicities associated with intensive chemotherapy.
