Overview
Dashamoola Kwatha is a traditional Ayurvedic polyherbal decoction composed of the roots of ten medicinal plants, collectively known as Dashamoola. It is widely utilized in Ayurvedic medicine for its potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-rheumatic properties. The formulation is traditionally indicated for Vata-related disorders, including various neuromuscular conditions such as limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, as well as respiratory ailments and joint pain. Pharmacological studies have demonstrated that Dashamoola Kwatha exerts its therapeutic effects by down-regulating key pro-inflammatory mediators, including Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α), Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and Interleukin-6 (IL-6), and by inhibiting the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). It is commonly administered as an oral solution and is often used in conjunction with other Ayurvedic therapies like Panchakarma.
