Overview

Dasiprotimut-T is a personalized therapeutic cancer vaccine developed for the treatment of B-cell lymphomas such as follicular lymphoma and mantle cell lymphoma. It is an autologous vaccine individually manufactured from a patient's own tumor cells. The process involves isolating the unique idiotype protein from the patient’s malignant B-cells and conjugating it to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), an immune-stimulating carrier protein. The resulting conjugate is administered with granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) to enhance immune response. Dasiprotimut-T stimulates the patient’s immune system to recognize and attack residual or recurring cancer cells by targeting these unique idiotype proteins on malignant B-cells[3][5][6]. Developed initially by the National Cancer Institute and later by Biovest International, dasiprotimut-T was granted orphan drug designation for rare lymphomas but its development was discontinued after late-stage clinical trials failed to demonstrate sufficient efficacy[3][4][5].
