Each drug has a distinct mechanism of action targeting rapidly dividing cancer cells: - Daunorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to DNA strand breaks and inhibition of DNA replication. - Methotrexate is an antimetabolite that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, blocking the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate required for purine and thymidylate synthesis, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis. - Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid that binds to tubulin and inhibits microtubule formation in the mitotic spindle, arresting cell division at metaphase. This combination may be used as part of multi-agent chemotherapy protocols for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or other hematologic malignancies. The specific use depends on treatment phase (induction/consolidation) and protocol design[4][5][8].
