Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPX-351 (Vyxeos) is a liposomal formulation containing a fixed 5:1 molar ratio of cytarabine and daunorubicin. It is designed to optimize the synergistic killing of leukemia cells while reducing systemic toxicity. The liposomal delivery system allows the drugs to remain in the bone marrow for an extended period, where they are taken up by leukemia cells. It was developed by Celator Pharmaceuticals (later acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of adults with newly-diagnosed therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) or AML with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRC).
